Me thinks I have to send Todd or future boyfriends to England so they can speak with a spiffy accent. God I'm a sucker for guys with the English, Scottish, or Irish accents in particular.

Well Miriam. I had such a blast at your party. They rule. Everyone was wonderful and you looked beautiful. I love the purple and dramatic is ok. Everyone looked like they had a good time so you must have more parties. lol.

I'm loving this song by POE called "Wild". Such a good song. I thought at first it might have been Garbage because she sounds a little like Shirley Manson.

I was subbing at Granite Hills today and I just had one of the most bizarre request from a student. The request wasn't I guess too bizarre but it's weird when students ask if they can have their picture taken with you. Some frosh in the class came up to me and asked if I would take a picture with him. I didn't even speak to him in class so I don't know why he wanted to take his picture with me. Weird.

I've really been into these poker tournaments they keep televising on tv. I think it's fun and I get a real big kick out of the celebrity matches. I've just learned how to play poker myself and Texas Holdem is my kind of game. I don't think it takes much skills because you either bet or you don't. You don't have to figure out what you want to keep or throw away.

This is really bad of me because I really shouldn't be spending money but I can't help it! I bought a set of 4 Akira Kurosawa movies. I needed to buy "Seven Samurai". This movie is GREAT! I think my all time favorite movie. The set included "Seven Samurai", "Yojimbo", "Sanjuro", and "Hidden Fortress". All of them different but all funny, dramatic, and action packed. No one makes movies like this anymore. "Last Samurai" is a nice attempt. That move rocks and everyone should go see it.

I posted this on Kristen's forum and decided that this post need the full explanation besides a link to just my photos of Balboa Park.

I think its always fun to play tourist in your home town. I bought a digital camera when there was the big "After Thanksgiving sale". I saw on CNN that they had digital cameras for $88. I figured that's probably as low as they are selling it for and of course my favorite store, Target had cameras they were selling for that price. It's a Vivitar camera with 3.3 megapixels and a movie mode. I'm sure it's not the best camera in the world but it's spiffy enough for me. And I also didn't have 200-300 dollars to spend on a camera.

I went to Balboa Park yesterday with Todd. He and I are big fans of Akira Kurosawa movies, especially his samurai movies. Balboa Park's Museum of Art has an exhibit for "Sculptures in Silk" Noh costumes from the Edo era and more recent ones from the Yamaguchi Noh Costume Research Center in Kyoto, Japan. We decided to check it out. No cameras were allowed in the exhibit so no photos of our excursion there. BTW, the costumes are beautiful and we certainly learned a lot about Noh. Some of Kurosawa's movies have Noh influence in them, specifically "Throne of Blood" and "Ran".

We did go to the Japanese friendship garden afterwords. It's soooo beautiful and peaceful there. I took some pictures with my digital and I think they turned out well. So if any of you are interested in looking at the pics, here's a link to the photo album:

Here's one of my favorite pictures that I took yesterday.

SDSU Aztecs Fight! Over 10,200 people went to Cox Arena last night ands saw the Aztecs defeat the BYU Cougers. Oh it was so much fun, it felt like a playoff game. It was so loud and everyone was cheering on both sides. The game was so exciting and the outcome was definitive when Brandon Heath slam dunked the ball and gave us a 65-61 victory! Goooooo Aztecs!!!

Congratulations to Michelle Kwan for winning her 8th National title and 7 straight. Incredible. Bring on the World Championships!

Her coral dress is incredible and how flattering! Vera Wang designs all of her dresses.

Welcome to U.S. Figure Skating: "“I can't justify everyday practice just for that gold medal. I came close to it and I know that I wouldn't be happier [if I'd won],” she said. “Everybody always thinks that you win the gold and everything is [wonderful]. It just doesn't work that way. Skating gives me a passion. I don't know what it is; I wish I could put a finger on it. But it's not about the medals; it's not. Regardless of what happens this week it's been a great journey already. I've been very fortunate in my skating career to have such a long lifespan in skating.”"

Can Michelle Kwan be any more wonderful?

THE LAST SAMURAI / *** 1/2 (R)

Go see this movie! Roger Ebert is truly the best and most knowledgeable movie critic out there. His review is right on.
