I'm off to Vegas tonight and I won't see much of it because Todd and I are driving back home at noon on Wednesday. So I get into Vegas at 10:00pm tonight and then drive back home tomorrow afternoon lol. It's fine because I'm not that into Vegas so it's just good to do something fun and spontaneous. I think the point of it is spending some time with Todd since we have a 6 hour drive home. I think he did this because he knew I was upset that I won't be spending Thanksgiving with him. It's the first time we won't be together because he will be going to his relatives for Thanksgiving. He doesn't know them that well and thinks it's going to be awkward and I really don't want to subject myself to that so I opted not to go. Anyways whatever the reason for the trip, it's still sweet.
Dinner with Kristen was a lot of fun. I took her out for a birthday dinner at the chinese resturant, P.F. Changs. yummy food. It was soooo good. I love their chicken lettuce wraps. Kristen you looked fabulous! Too bad we didn't bring a camera.
Well I went to the opening game for the Aztec basketball team. It was neat to see our division championship being raised in the arena. Too bad we lost. Sucks.
Well it turns out that I'm going to Las Vegas tomorrow. Todd has been wanting to get out of town and he wanted to drive out yesterday. But I convinced Todd that he was too sick to go and that he'll be too tired to drive. Well he ended going today instead of yesterday. I worked today so he is flying me out to meet him tomorrow night. It's kinda romantic I think. I've never flown to meet anyone before. Well since he drove over, I just needed a one way ticket. Todd said that he would email me the information about the flights. I didn't know that he actually bought the ticket. So unless something changes looks like I'm off to Vegas. It's kinda exciting.
Well I don't know but I've been in a weird mood this week. I haven't posted very much evidently so I thought now would be as good as any time to catch up.
Let's see Todd is sick and for me this translates into 2 of the worst weeks. When I get sick, I am like a baby. I'm sweet as can be but I like to be taken care of. I'm good about taking care of myself. I eat right, drink lots of fluids, and sleep so that I don't have to be sick for long. I also get bored from being in bed all day or close to that so I like to have company. Todd on the hand is the meanest and crabbiest person when he is sick. He can't be around people without snapping at them. He isn't very good about taking care of himself, so I try to watch out for him.
This week I started my Christmas shopping earlier than last year because it sucked last year because it was sooooo last minute. I got a lot done and I pretty much know what I'm getting everyone this year so that's nice.
I took a stamping class on Wednesday and it was a lot of fun. I wished however that I had some friends to go with.
I am appalled and angry at my uncle and I won't go into it anymore.
Well I had a pretty nice weekend, how about everyone else?
I had fun in Old Town with Kris, margarita wasn't great though because I couldn't even get a buzz going. But hey it did still taste good. Next time Kris, no eating chips and salsa. We were loading up on chips and salsa that we didn't have much room for our lunch!
Well most of my weekend was spent watching the Chargers beat the 49ers! Yay. And watching a couple of movies. Todd's been wanting to see "Changing Lanes" with Ben Affleck and Samuel Jackson. The movie was so lame and slow that I gave up and went to sleep. I also finally got Todd to watch "A Knights Tale" with me. He swore he'd never see it, he thought it was a girly movie with a sissy guy in it. And guessed what? He liked it! Yea, why should he ever doubt me again? I knew he would like it.
Well I saw this on the news last night and I wanted to share. I have seen the Charger's running back, LaDainian Tomlinson (LT) in countless interviews. He is an amazing guy who gives a lot of his free time to the community and to charities. I've seen him talk about his idol, Emmit Smith and how he wants to immulate him. He is the leading rusher in the NFL right now with 1053 yards. He's a great player and person. He is such a nice and classy guy and I couldn't be a bigger fan until I heard about what he did. Okay there was this guy who contacted the news station. (I don't know his name). LaDainian and the Chargers did not contact the news so this was obviously something that was not meant for the public or done for publicity. Anyways, this guy went to a Sprint store opening that LaDainian was a part of. The guy was hoping to get an autograph for his brother who has the fatal, Lou Gehrig's disease. Well LaDainian didn't give him the autograph, instead he drove the guy in his car home to go meet with his brother. The brother who suffers from the disease is confined to his home or to a chair so he couldn't go himself to meet LT, so his brother went for him because he is a huge Chargers fan. LT stayed there for about 20 minutes, less than 24 hours before game time! And signed autographs and took pictures with everyone. He also sat down and said some words of encouragement. Man is this guy amazing or what? What a nice guy to go out to a fans house to meet him. He really is a nice guy and such a class act.
Well as promised I did see it twice and I did like it better the second time. I went at 8:30am and there were like 30 of us in the theater. Everyone was an adult except there was one little girl. I've been reading the books a lot lately and it didn't live up to my expectations from the first viewing. I kept comparing it the book and it was early in the morning so it wasn't fantastic to me. I was the only one to stay for the end credits and they had turned on the lights before the suprise came up. But no it's NOT an internet rumor there is something at the end. I'll get to what it is later.
I went a second time yesterday. I went alone to the first show and this time I dragged Todd. We had to stand in line for over an hour before the movie started because the line to get in was so long! People were lining up for times that wer MUCH later so it was kind of a crazy night but a lot fun. The kids around us seem to be enjoying themselves. Time moved quickly though so it was cool. I had a better experience with the movie the second time around and I decided to enjoy the movie rather than continually compare it to the book. It was also more fun watch it with a packed theater with children as well. During the spider scene the kid next to me literally jumped out of his seat. It was cute because he was clutching to his mom. I didn't think the movie was that scary for kids because I didn't hear anyone cry. They were riveted because I was watching some of them and no one nodded off to sleep. I think that as long as the kids are with an adult they should be fine. But yeah parents should be aware that it can be scary. There were many young children there so hopefully they won't have any nightmares. I didn't see this but Todd did, there was this little Black kid who was about 6-7 years old wearing a Harry Potter glasses, had a cape on, a Harry Potter t-shirt, and a wand as was waving it at people around him. Oh it sounded so cute, wished I could have seen it. Everyone in the theater seemed to really have liked it. I didn't stick around for the credits for the second show so here's what I remember from the first show.
Anyway, onto the end credit spoiler.
WARNING Spoiler of end credit below: PLEASE HIGHLIGHT THE BLANK SECTION BELOW TO SEE THE SPOILER
After the end credit, we're back at Diagon Alley. There is a picture of Lockhart moving in the book, and he's wearing a strait jacket or something and the title above him says, "Do you know who I am?" It was completely hilarious. You have to see it for yourself.
Spoilers off.
Although I enjoyed the movie I will be glad to see a new director take this over. I LOVED the third book because it's my favorite. And I am a big fan of the movie, "A Little Princess", which was directed by the new director, Alfonso Cauron, for the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azcaban. Go rent that movie to see what I mean.
Edited for more rants:
Ok this is my blog so I feel safe to vent here and not start a war of words. I was just over at collegelcub.com and on their message board there was discussion about the new Republican regime. There some complete idiots over there and some of them are history majors. Scary. I need a place to refute some of their posts. I know my politcal ideas are not shared by all my friends but hey this is mine so I don't care.
moron said: "You know, it's pointless questions like these that lead to the faulty perceptions of government that most people hold. The Republicans don't control the Senate, people. They're not even close. It takes 60 votes to get a cloture motion passed, which means that the Democrats now have MORE power over government than they did before the election. Now, when a critical bill doesn't make it through, it's a lot harder to lay the blame on the Democrats, which means that they have all the power to force their agenda (terrible though it might be) with none of the accountability for the results of their actions. That is a major advantage heading into a presidential election year in a nation currently waffling back and forth between the parties, and it's one that Terry McCauliff (evil though he might be--man do I loathe that guy) will no doubt exploit as far as he can."
Chance's Response: I think that is the dumbest statement that I've ever head, the Democrats DO NOT have more power after the election. They were the majority party in the Senate and they are no longer. The Senate does not need the Democrats to pass daily bills, all it takes is a simple majority. So yeah the Republicans will really only have themselves to blame if the shit hits the fan. Don't tell me that it's not true because they do have control of the House, Senate, and presidency. Unless you're going to tell me otherwise that that the Democrats were the real winners on Tuesday. /shaking head.
The more I read this board the more I realize how little people know and understand history.
idiot said: "the issue that needs to dealt with is getting God back in our government, like the foundation of this country. "
[sarcasm on]this is what the Founding Fathers wanted, this is the government in which they were trying to establish.[sarcasm off]
I want to comment on everything but I can't. Basically Republicans gained so much power is because of the threat of war and the disorganization of the Democrats. Unfortunately the Democrats have no leader to lead this party. They better get it together or we'll have for more year of Dubya. God help us all.
Edited:
Well I've had a chance to think it over and I say we should give the Republicans a chance to do everything that they want. I say we re-elect Dubya in 2004. Then we should have his brother Jeb run for president and elect him for 8 years as well. After that if senior is still around he might want another go at it since he was only elected once. Or maybe one of Jeb's drug convicted children should run or maybe Dubya's twins can run, the smart one who doesn't keep getting busted for drinking at the bar as a minor or attepting to. We should give the Republicans all the time they want to change everything that they want. Let's take away a women's right to choose since Roe v. Wade is winning by 1 vote. Let's tax just the middle and the poor and leave the rich people to run the economy. And I'll even be for school prayer because I think I'll need some spirtual assistance at this time. And believe me I need to be praying around the clock. All sounds good right? Liberal whine done, let's hear it for the Republicans.
Well today hasn't been a very good day for me. I had two things get cancelled on me.
Let's call it, "Cancel on Chance Day".
I had a job I was supposed to work today that got cancelled because my teacher came back early. I had dinner plans with Miriam but she is very bogged down with school so she had to cancel. woe is me :o(
But alas not everything was bad. I got to purchase my Harry Potter tickets and I will be at the theater Friday morning at 8:30am and it only cost me drum roll please . . . $3.75, I didn't even know they had Early Bird specials. But hey it's all good. lol.
Well I bought the special edition, Lord of the Rings DVD as well as the Star Wars: Attack of the Clones DVD. I haven't opened either yet but I'll get to them. I'm especially interested in viewing the additional 30 minutes to LOTR. I'll probably wait to watch Star Wars with Todd sometime this week. Wow Friday can not come soon enough, I'm planning on going at the first showing at 10:00am to see Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the 2nd year begins this Friday! Oh my god I can't wait. The more I see, the more I want to see the movie!
Well I called Kristen up to go to the movies with me. I wanted to see the anime movie "Spirited Away" because I heard it was really good. I'm not a huge fan of anime but I've heard good things so why not. Well it's only playing in 2 theaters here and the one that's close to both of us had the last showing at 3:20pm. It was of course 3:00pm when I called so we missed out. So we decided to check out other movies playing there and neither of us had seen "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". Again this has been the biggest sleeper hit ever and I decided heck why not check it out, I'm sure it's a good movie. Well I decided it would be fun to go to dinner first. Let's go to our favorite sea food joint, Joe's Crab Shack and gets some calamari. I've been craving it lately. So the movie starts at 7:00pm, and I thought 5:20pm would be a good time to go to dinner. We'd eat then go. Well we didn't get out of Joe's until 6:40 or something like that and there's a Clothestime clothing store downstairs from Joe's and we decided to look in. Well everything was 60% off the entire store so we look around and we know it's going to take longer than 5-10 minutes that we have before the movie begin. So I turn to Kristen and I'm like, "how badly do you want to go to the movies? Should we keep shopping or go to the movies?" We decided that we can see the movie some other time and decide to keep shopping. I am a bad influence on my friends. After work today I'm going to pick up the "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones" cd and the special edition "Lord of the Rings" dvd.
Well the Chargers sucked this weekend by coughing up a 10 point lead with 5 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. The team needs to snap out of this losing streak and the coach needs to STOP being so conservative! Todd and I later went to the Sports City Bar and Grill in La Jolla. Yummy food there. I had some stir fry chicken in lettuce wraps. It's a lot like what they have a P.F. Changs. Man I've been on this Chinese food craving lately.
Anyways the wedding was fun yesterday with Kristen. You looked lovely Kris. That skirt looked great on you! Man the weather was really bad. But the wedding was short and sweet but the reception took place much too late! The priest kept screwing up Frankie's name and calling him Frankly and messing up some other times as well. I'm sure they didn't mind. The quick peck on the lips was cute when they were supposed to kiss.
Well I hope all of you had a nice weekend. What did you all do?
The weekend sucks because of bad weather. Yes rainny weather can be good sometimes. It's especially fun when you can snuggle with someone. But for the most part it does hinder what you can do. And going to a wedding when it's raining bites. I feel bad for the bride and groom. I guess this is why most people do not marry in November. Oh well, will report the details later.
From the Leaky Cauldron, they are reporting that the next South Park, (debuting Wednesday, November 13 at 10 pm on Comedy Central) features the mountain town's kids splitting into two costumed camps: the Lord of the Rings devotees and the Potterphiles.
I don't regularly watch South Park now. It used to be the funniest show but I don't know, I guess I got bored after a while, but this looks great. I'll be tuning in to watch.
There is also a wonderful article on the impact of Harry Potter around the world from the Guardian. Check it out.
Well I don't want to sound like I'm a creep or anything but that Daniel Radcliffe is such a cutie. He plays Harry Potter for those of you who didn't know. He looks so different without those glasses on him and he's very cute actually. I've seen him in interviews and he is going to be such a heartthrob I think. I've been very impressed with how mature he is and how genuinely nice he appears to be. Rupurt Grint who plays Ron Weasley looks so different! He's grown up a lot as well. I can't wait, just one day and a week and I'll be in the theaters watching the Chamber of Secrets. Be sure to go on November 15th!
Well I'm counting down the days toward the release of the Harry Potter movie, The Chamber of Secrets. I'm currently re-reading the Goblet of Fire now. Well I like to go to The Leaky Cauldron to read up on Potter news and I sent in a little bit of news. Nothing special but they posted my email. Check it out if you want. I sent an article about Emma Watson, who plays Herminione Granger. She was so nervous about hugging star Daniel Radcliffe. It kinda sounds like she blew things out of proportion but she is only 12 and she's at that stage, so I can't really blame her. Check out the Leaky Cauldron for the article.
Well it looks like the Republicans are going to be taking over the world. God help us all. Enough said. I'm not really interested in starting a debate here. It's just my own personal feelings and opinion. Anyhow.
I picked up the new Justin Timberlake cd "Justified". I love the name! It suits him and the cd. I lent it to Todd to listen first because I wasn't even sure I was going to pick it up. Yes for those of you who didn't know, I like *N Sync. In fact I liked them a lot but my like for them has waned a bit since they don't appear to be coming out with a new album any time soon because each guy is pursuing different ventures. Anyhow the cd sounds good so far and it's gotten some really good reviews.
Speaking or reviews, here is mine of "Scarlet's Walk" from Mrs. Tori Amos. Well when I start listening to a new cd, I don't necessarily love it. This was the case with Tori's new cd. I really wasn't into it because I heard so much of it before and I was a little dissappointed after I got it. Well I decided to play the entire cd without listening trying to the lyrics or the songs.(does that make anys sense?) I put the cd on as I was working so that I can listen to the entire cd and not just the song. This album is truly a concept album or as Tori calls it a "sonic novel" because to get it, you have to listen to the whole because the individual doesn't really make much sense. But the songs do stand on its own. This is one of her best albums ever. I still think "Boys for Pele" is her best and most amazing work ever. The album cover and photos are amazing in themselves! Anyways,
Songs I LOVED!:
A Sorta Fairytale - the first single and easy to listen to
Crazy - classic Tori
Your Cloud - amazing bluesy number, bitter sweet song of love
Pancake - classic Tori about religion
Taxi Ride - amazing lyrics and vocals, immediately LOVED this song
Scarlet's Walk - wonderful instruments that evoke a gothic, creepy, haunting theme of Native America
Songs I grew to LOVE:
Wednesday - very funky beats with the guitar
Carbon - one of my true favorites, great hook
Sweet Sangria - story of Mexican revolutionary, great hook again
Virginia - just amazing vocals on this one about Native America. Also one of those times when I get goose bumps because her voice is so amazing!
Gold Dust - the final song, this is an epic piece
Songs I loved but only liking now:
Wampum Prayer - only acapella, seems out of place here but very pretty song
Strange - reminds me so much of Madonna on this, good song but something about it bugs me
Your Cloud Do you think
just like that
You can divide This
You as yours
Me as mine
to before we were
Us
if the rain
Has to separate
from itself
does it say
"pick out your cloud?"
Mrs Jesus Your walking on the water Bit
by far my favorite one
But now it seems we're drowning
in a drop of water
Love
and even as
I'm climbing up the stairs
well I know there's
Heaven there
and then Empty arms
that comes with
the Morning Star
Another girls' Paradise you caught me lingering
in another girl's paradise
the way
she paints the world -
I want that in my life
can I take from you and
not keep taking
"you have come to discover what
you want"
What I want is
not to want
what isn't mine
Scarlet's Walk If you're a thought
you will want
me
to think
you
and
I did
I will follow Her
on her path
Scarlet's Walk
through the violets
just tell your Gods for me
all debts are off
this year
Comments from -- Will Hermes, Spin Magazine, Nov 2002 The record's climactic tour de force is Scarlet's Walk, a séance-style spin through the Gothic South, its title evoking both the deaths of American Indians on the Trail of Tears and Gone With the Wind's homesick heroine. All organs, horns, and echoing drums, the song wraps Amos in layers of down-home creepiness. A man with a badge asks her: "What do you plan to do with all your stories?" She tells him she plans to bury them with all the other legends, wisdom, and "medicines" squandered throughout America's history, then stretches the word terra--signifying both Scarlett O'Hara's ruined estate and all that blood-soaked, hallowed earth--into a little earthquake.
Well today is election day, I hope all of you are going out to vote today.
Well did anyone see the remake of Carrie, the tv movie of the night on NBC. My god it was awful. It was not remotely scary and they changed the ending! What up with that. The movie was totally laughable and way over the top and much too dramatic. The girl playing Carrie was good but way too over the top as well. She was such a spaz. The movie overall was just annoying and just plain silly.
Well the Charger game sucked. They really stunk up the joint. I can't believe the lowly Jets scored so many points off of us. They better get it together next week because we're playing the Rams. But other than the game the next thing that sucked was some asshole who was sitting at the next level above us was kicking their peanut shells onto us below. H-e-l-l-o! There are people beneath you loser! I was pretty pissed off at a rain of peanuts coming down on us. To cap it off, there were like 3 fights around us. What up with Jet fan? Also it was interesting to see some really pissed off guy run onto the field to be tackled by 5-6 security guys and the guy was still struggling. They had a difficult time containing him. I don't know what his deal was but he looked pretty pissed off. But aside from the Chargers sucking, the peanut shell rain, and the fights, there were some highligts.
It was cool being there to see Stan Humphries and coach Bobby Ross be inducted in the Charger's Hall of Fame. It was also cool to see the sick powder blue uniforms. I love them but Todd doesn't because they're not as tough looking as their regular. On our way out of the stadium after the game, Todd got to do something fantastic. He met Bobby Ross in the parking lot and shook his hand. Too bad we didn't have a camera because Todd is a huge fan of Bobby Ross and so am I. He is a wonderful gentleman. Todd said he really took the time to listen and to look at Todd. The coach was walking towards his limo when throngs of fans started yelling his name and people were getting pictures and autographs from him. For a minute I didn't think Todd was going to be able to get to him and I was trying to get him to be more aggressive. I didn't want him to miss out on the opportunity. So I was glad that it worked out. I think that was worth the price of admission.
Anyways, how was everyone's weekend? What did you all do?
Well I went down to the stadium to buy tickets to the Charger game tomorrow against the NY Jets. They are going to be in the Powder Blue unis so that should be very exciting. It is also the Hall of Fame game. Former Charger quarterback Stan Humphries and coach Bobby Ross will be inducted in the Chargers Hall of Fame. They are definitely 2 deserving individuals of this honor.
Well I finally got my margarita today. Kristen and I went to, On the Border, a nice Mexican resturant here. I wanted to specifically go there for a margarita. I should have gotten a bigger size because it was pretty good if a tad on the sweet size, (I got raspberry flavored.) Well we went shopping after lunch. I wanted to go downtown so we did and our first stop was Nordstroms. Big mistake. Lately Nordstroms has become like Target for us, we can't go in without buying something! I was told by the very nice sales lady (I'm not being sarcastic) what I was buying. Damn she was nice but very pushy. I didn't buy any make-up but I did buy a couple of skin care items which I DON'T need and will most likely return. I was lucky to leave without purchasing the entire line. Oh I need another margarita. Anyone want to volunteer to bring me one?
Well I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. What did everyone do? I didn't stay home to give candy to the little trick a treaters. Although I did buy candy and there is still a ton left! Well Todd and I didn't know what to do for Halloween so Todd decided to go back to Sea World since we have annual passes. It was still a lot of fun and not crowed at all. The band, whoever they were rocked!!! They were so awesome, wish I knew the name of the band. A lot of fun and so much energy. I didn't get dressed up for Halloween this year but I did wear my Spongebob Squarepants bright yellow tee shirt with his huge face on it. I got a lot of attention from people, and even the actors working at Sea World. She asked me if I was too old for cartoons and I said nope. I felt sorry for the actors because Sea World was pretty much dead. Too bad.
