Well Lance Armstrong won his 4th consecutive Tour De France. That is a great accomplishment and he is well on his way to no. 5. The record by the way is 5, in could indeed match that feat and possibily surpass it. It's quite amazing what's he's accomplished since coming back from cancer. A cancer in which he was given only 20% to live. Just incredible. Oh and by the way, the winning team earns over $2 million! Wow!
Well I saw Austin Powers, Gold Member yesterday with Todd, his sister, and mom. It was a decent movie. I've never been a fan of the Austin movies and it was actually the first one that I've ever seen completely. I've seen bits and parts of the others but never completely.
That is my new purse. I can't wait to get it. I ordered it from Ebags.com and I got it in the red color. Well I've been on this major shopping trip lately. I shop in spurts I think. Sometimes I won't shop at all and other times I spend loads of money. ~sigh~ I've been purchasing new purses, I got like a Andie cap hat yesterday, and tons of make up. My new favorite make-up line is Tony & Tina. Their make up is young, fresh, and cosmic. The best part is all the !!!
My cds that I ordered from BMG just arrived. It's nice because I can have a second copy of my Tori Amos cds because a lot of them are skipping because they are all scratched. It also gave me an opportunity to purchase the Moulin Rouge II Soundtrack. I love the movie, the music, and the first soundtrack so I had to get the second one.
oh I have a headache. I spent a nice day with Kris but damn it was H-O-T!!! We went to lunch at Benihana's and then decided to go shopping. We spent like 5 hours there! Yikes, but it was fun. I've got too big a headache to write more but all I got to say is I love the glitter liner! I have to have it!!!!
I got online and received my usual daily news from tvguide.com Here's today news that caught my attention
"THE WAIT CONTINUES...: J.K. Rowling's fifth Harry Potter book, The Order of the Phoenix, won't arrive in bookstores until June 2003, USA Today reports. Rowling apparently is still writing the novel. Hurry up, already!"
auggghhhhh, I thought it would be out this summer and now I have to wait until next summer!!! The horror.
Well last night I went to Joe's Crab Shack with Kristen. It was great. We haven't been there in a long time and we both LOVE seafood. It's just awesome at Joe's. We however didn't eat too much because we got full on the calamari. Yum. Next Benihana Kris!
Well I was watching the mountain section of the Tour De France today and Lance Armstrong is just awesome! It's is so fun to watch this guy just toy with the other cyclist and kill them in the end to take the lead. He is just incredibile because he can turn it on at any time and he can win at will. This is a 23 day over 2,500 mile bike through Luxembourg, Germany, and France. Today's event took over 4 hours and they ride almost everyday. Lance won the 11th stage of the Tour. He hasn't been in first place since the prologue because he's always tried to keep close and conserve his energy for the remainder of the tour. I can't wait to watch him in the moutain stage because that's where he excels. If you aren't watch, watch it!
My friend Vickie emailed me about my whole Audrey Heburn kick. I feel like I need to address this.
"I was checking out your Blog and read about your current Audrey Hepburn kick. One of my favorites is Roman Holiday, which you didn't mention and I thought you would like. I like Roman Holiday even better than Funny Face and Breakfast at Tiffany's."
Well I have to tell Vickie that I have seen "Roman Holiday". It was the first Audrey Hepburn movie I ever saw and I loved it. She and Gregory Peck are awesome in it. I didn't mention it because I saw it on tv and I didn't have the urge to go see it. "Love in the Afternoon" and "Sabrina" are also wonderful movie. I love most of her movies. She was a wonderful actress and humanitarian.
Well today was my first day ever as a real teacher! It was my own class with my name on the attendence sheet. The class is 5 hours long with the same kids! I hope I survive, I know the kids will because they're tough. I'm teaching world history if some of you are wondering. I'm trying to cram a whole semester in 15 days. Atleast I had a decent weekend.
Well Saturday Todd and I finally went back to our favorite karoke place in Point Loma. It was fun but the wait to sing was so long. Todd sang "Brick House", he did so good! When I asked him what he was going to sing, he told me "Brick House". I totally thought he was joking and that I guess I would have to wait until he was actually singing. I was totally floored that he actually sang that song! It's not really his style. I was so proud.
Well last night I hung out with Kristen. We went and had some yummy sushi and we rented a few movies. I've been on this Audrey Hepburn kick lately and I've been watching some of her movies. I rented ""My Fair Lady" and "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I have to say she is so gorgeous in both movies, I think in particular "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I love the way she looks in hats, just stunning. Anyways I've been trying to get my hands on this movie called "Funny Face" with Audrey and Fred Astaire. The Hollywood Video by my house sucks ass because the store is in complete disarray. They need some new employees who will put videos back in their right places. Anyways so Kristen and I found the movie at the best Hollywood Video location in Clairemont. They have a huge DVD collection! So we rented "Funny Face", "Legally Blonde", and "Kate and Leopold". Kris has never seen either of the movies so we watched the first two last night. Now I saw "Funny Face" on American Movie Classics on tv or something because I rememebered it to be better than what I saw last night. The problem was mainly the music. The famous George and Ira Gershwin wrote the music and there might have been 2 good songs in it, the rest of it didn't work and was very unmemorable. I guess that is why it is not one of her more famous movies. We then watched "Legally Blonde" next, I've seen the movie before and I really liked it so it was cool to see again. I love watching a movie I like with someone who hasn't seen it before. I like to see their impressions of it. That's why I'm always up for going to see a movie I've already seen with someone who hasn't.
I just have to mention how much the weather has sucked in San Diego. It has been cloudy, humid, and hot. Man I feel dirty all the time. I can't stand it! But hey it does beat the heat of Vegas. Yuck. Oh MTV is re-running the MTV Movie Awards and I have to say that Ewan McGregor looks soooo H-O-T!!!
Well I'm going through the gazillions of tapes that I have. I love to record things because I can watch things over and over. What I have mainly recorded are my absolute two favorite people in entertainment, figure skater, Michelle Kwan and musician, Tori Amos. I also have a lot of *N Sync, my favorite boyband. Well Tori hasn't produced any new material as of late and my interest in her has waned a bit in the sense that I don't read everything on the net about her; my love for her music however hasn't. So I was going through some of my tapes last night and I was watching some of her performance on various shows and I just can not wait for her new album to come out this October tentively entitled, Scarlet's Walk. I just love her music and she's so much personality and I can listen to her talk all day. I think she's just got amazing insight and the way her mind is just fascinating. I think that she is just so damn brilliant. Can you tell? And she doesn't get the credit that she deserves.
Well I'm trying to clean up my room at the moment and I have no desire to do so. Everytime I attempt to clean or straighten up it gets messy all over again. I have never been or will ever be a neat freak but I would like some sense of order in my life. The problem also is, where to start? Aughh.
Well I was watching ESPN this morning and the commissioner, Bud Selig, was talking about the state of baseball. He mentioned that one team was in danger of not making their payroll. He stated that baseball can not continue to bail out teams. Here is where the problem is. Baseball needs a major overhaul. There needs to be revenue sharing like there is in the NBA and the NFL. There are the big market teams that can virtually buy themselves a championship because they can lure athletes with a high salary while the small and middle market teams are struggling. The World Champion Arizona Diamondbacks are supposedly having financial difficulties as well. There was talk of constricting 2 teams from the league. Isn't it just a little ironic that the Florida Marlins, who were World Champs themeselves only a few years ago, in 1997? are in danger of being no more. These small and middle markets struggle to compete against teams like the Yankees and Brave year in and out. I mean if baseball wants to continue to be called America's past time (which it is not), it needs to think of ways to bring parity and competiveness back in baseball. It seems to continually be the same teams that end up in the play offs. I think we could still have great teams compete on a more equal footing.
I just got home from hanging out with my friend Miriam. I have to apologize to her on my blog for talking her ear off and not really listening to what she had to say. I think I just wanted to validate my own opinions and feelings and did not give her the same consideration that she gave me. We were discussing religion. I took this religious studies course at State back as a freshmen I think. I LOVED the course and I have always recommended that people take it with professor Pat Boni because I just thought that she was awesome. I loved the book almost as much as the class and so I purchased a second copy of the book after my first got worn out from lending it to so many people. The book is entitled, The World's Religions by Huston Smith. Everyone should read this book, it is excellent. Anyways we were discussing Hinduism today and we talked about all of the principle of Hinduism. I've taken religious studies and read the book so I went pretty quick over some of the points the book makes. Miriam however has never taken the class or read the book and had a lot to digest and I did not take that into consideration. So, I'm sorry Miriam!
Well I am completed digusted with Major League Baseball. Last night's All Star's Game proves that baseball does not care about the fans. With all the troubles that baseball is facing, it was not the right move to end the game in a 7-7 tie because they ran out of pitchers. They should have come up with another solution. Baseball today is not what it used to be. In another time, no manager would have allowed the game to end in a tie. They would have played on until there was a winner. And to make matters worse, they honored Ted Williams by naming the Most Valuable Player's award after him and they didn't name an MVP! I mean it's one thing to not finish the game, it's another to not even announce a winner. For a split second I truly thought that we should just get rid of baseball. Sports has become too much about business and the fans have been sacrificed because of it. Baseball has the threat of a player's strike looming and the suspicion of steriod use among the players that has fans scrambling. Last night might have been the nail in the coffin. I mean how many of us truly care about the squabblings of millionaire baseball players and billionaire owners. They owe it to the fans to reform baseball. If they go out on strike, I'm not sure if I'll forgive them and return to the ball park and support this dysfunctional sport.
On to better sportting news, the Tour De France is the most prestigious cycling event. Todd and I really got into last year because we were both amazed at Lance Armstrong. He is amazing because he has the ability to just blow his fellow competitors off the road. The Tour De France takes over 3 weeks over Luxembourg, Germany, and of course France. Armstrong is currently sitting in 5th place overall (17 seconds behind), that will all change next week because he excels in the mountain stages. That's where he'll blow his competition away. Check it out on OLN.TV, check your local listings.
Well I just received an email from my friend Manuel. He told me that he couldn't post any messages on the blog. I just tested it but I didn't have any problems. Are any of you having trouble? Please email me and let me know if you do.
A couple of things I want to bring up from Manuel's email. He asked if I really saw Lilo & Stitch and what did I think of it. I not only did go and see it but I saw it twice within 3 days. I know what you must be thinking, Chance is nuts. I'm not. I missed the previews (the best part of any movie going experience most of the time) and part of the beginning of the movie. So when my best Kristen and I decided to go to the movies, I suggested Lilo & Stitch because:
Well it's early in the morning and I was woken up by a screaming crying baby next door. I can't go back to sleep because this kid won't stop crying. I hate living at this place. Unfortunately since my employment status isn't stable, I don't feel comfortable moving to another place.
Anyways, last night I sent emails to invite my friends to check out my blog so for those of you who have decided to check it out, thanks for visiting. I hope that you do get a chance to read it occassionally so that I know that you are all out there. I'll try to write something more interesting than what I've written so far. I've mainly been focus on setting up this blog and template rather than the content. Catch ya later.
Well I got a call from the high school that I was working at and they told me that they had a position available for the 2nd session of summer school. Now I'm working again, which will be nice. It's good to work because I get bored very easily. It is funny because Todd must have finally caught on to how I am when I'm unemployed. He told me to get a job because I'm so mean to him because I'm so restless. It makes me laugh because it's so true.
My favorite figure skater, Michelle Kwan is 22 years old today.
Well I went to this coffee house called Claire De Lune with my friend Miriam. It's a pretty cool place because it's pretty spacious and they have live music. The location however is not in the best neighborhood but we had a good time. Some blue grass band was playing and they were really good. We went there to hang and listen to music but we ended up just chatting about news and all sorts of topics ranging from school vouchers to religion until closing time at 1.
Well I went to see Disney's movie Lilo & Stitch with my friend Kristen. I really love this movie because I think Lilo, the little Hawaiian girl is just so cute. I can relate to her a little bit because I'm a bit of a brat myself. I had to laugh at some of the scenes where Lilo was throwing some of her temper tantrams I've done it so many timesmyself. But hey I like to think we're both very cute when we're doing it even if we are a little bratty. Todd says the movie could have been called "Chance and Stitch" in that respects. Now that would be a movie worth seeing! :o)
Speaking of worth seeing. I also saw Men In Black II. I thought the movie was very average. It was not better than the first one in my opinion. In the first movie, I was entertained and I laughed a lot. In MIB II, I was moderately entertained and barely laughed, if at all. I just think that MIB II tried to hard this time around and didn't have the charm of the first. This movie was only and 1 1/2 hours long, thank goodness, because it felt more like 2 1/2 hours.
